Day four of the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 basketball championship saw decisive victories for South Korea, Australia, Iran, and Guam, as Qatar, Lebanon, and Syria suffered setbacks in their group-stage campaigns.

In Group A action, South Korea overpowered Qatar 97-83 in Friday’s second-round clash. While the game remained competitive at intervals, the South Koreans asserted control for much of the match, converting their sustained dominance into a convincing win. The result strengthened South Korea’s standing in the group, while Qatar will need a strong response in their next outing.

The second Group A encounter featured defending champions Australia, who continued their impressive form with a 93-80 triumph over Lebanon. The Australians displayed balanced offense and disciplined defense, putting them within touching distance of a spot in the next round. They are now set to face Qatar in their third-round fixture, where victory would secure their progression.

Over in Group B, Iran notched a hard-fought 78-70 victory against Japan. The tightly contested match saw both sides exchange scoring runs, but Iran’s composure in the closing minutes proved decisive. The win boosted Iran’s chances of advancing, while Japan will be aiming to regroup in their remaining group matches.

The final contest of the day pitted Syria against Guam, with both sides looking to recover from opening-round defeats. Guam started strongly, seizing an early lead that they maintained throughout the game. Despite Syria’s efforts to narrow the gap, Guam held firm to seal an 82-73 win and claim their first points of the tournament.

With the group stage approaching its midway point, the standings remain closely contested. South Korea and Australia are emerging as early frontrunners in Group A, while Iran and Guam have injected fresh competitiveness into Group B.

The championship, hosted in Jeddah, will continue over the weekend with a series of crucial fixtures that could determine the path to the knockout rounds. Fans can expect high-intensity play as teams vie for the remaining qualification spots.
