Saudi Fitness Influencers Help Shape Healthier Lifestyles as Wellness Culture Grows

Saudi Fitness Influencers Help Shape Healthier Lifestyles as Wellness Culture Grows

Saudi Arabia’s growing focus on health and wellness is driving a surge in fitness-related content across social media, with athletes and influencers playing an increasingly important role in encouraging healthier lifestyles, mental well-being and long-term exercise habits.

The rise of online fitness communities comes as the Kingdom continues to expand sports participation under its Vision 2030 agenda, particularly through the Quality of Life Program, which was launched in 2018 to improve the well-being of citizens and residents by promoting physical activity and healthier living.

Government initiatives, including the Ministry of Health’s campaign encouraging people to walk for at least 30 minutes each day, have also contributed to making exercise a more regular part of daily life. At the same time, social media platforms have become a key source of fitness advice, workout routines and motivational content for people of all ages.

The expanding wellness sector has created opportunities for both professional athletes and fitness creators to build large online audiences. Their content now covers a wide range of activities, from Olympic sports and competitive training to gym workouts, yoga, Pilates and nutrition guidance.

Khobar-based sports influencer Mohammed Alikhan said fitness content creators have a responsibility to encourage realistic and sustainable habits rather than promoting unhealthy comparisons or unrealistic expectations.

“I think there’s a responsibility when sharing fitness content online because social media can sometimes create unhealthy pressure, comparison or unrealistic expectations,” Alikhan said. He added that he prefers promoting a balanced approach instead of an “all or nothing” mindset.

Saudi Olympian and cross-country skiing athlete Rakan Alireza also highlighted the importance of mental well-being in sports. He challenged the popular belief that success only comes through constant physical hardship.

“‘Go hard or go home’ is something many people misunderstand,” Alireza said. “It’s about consistency and it’s about the journey.”

Drawing on his experience working with young athletes, he said placing excessive emphasis on achieving immediate results can distract from valuable lessons learned through steady progress and personal development.

Fitness trainer and sports influencer Ebaa Sabbagh, who specialises in Pilates, yoga and strength training, said lasting physical results depend on maintaining both mental and physical health. She encourages clients to pay attention to how their bodies respond during exercise and avoid movements that cause pain or discomfort.

“If a movement feels uncomfortable or harmful, I teach them to stop and listen instead of forcing it,” Sabbagh said. She added that the same awareness should extend to nutrition, stress management, recovery and emotional well-being.

The three influencers also pointed to growing enthusiasm for sports among young Saudis. Alikhan said many people are now focusing less on appearance and more on performance, discipline and overall health.

Alireza credited expanded sports infrastructure, stronger institutional support and wider acceptance of athletics as a career path for encouraging greater participation.

Sabbagh said the growing sense of community around fitness is creating a lasting cultural shift, with individuals inspiring others to adopt healthier routines. She believes the movement has grown beyond a passing trend and is becoming an established part of everyday life across the Kingdom.
