The Losail International Circuit has confirmed that the Porsche Carrera Cup Middle East will feature in the lineup of events supporting the Qatar Airways Formula 1 Grand Prix 2024. Scheduled from November 29 to December 1, the prestigious event marks the penultimate round of the Formula 1 season.

In a statement on Sunday, the circuit announced that the Porsche Carrera Cup Middle East race will join other major support races, including the Formula 1 Academy Race and the FIA Formula 2 Championship. These events are set to provide a thrilling build-up to the Qatar Grand Prix, showcasing world-class motorsport talent.

The Porsche Carrera Cup will highlight the iconic Porsche 911 GT3 cars in high-speed competition, featuring a free practice session, a qualifying round, and two races. With approximately 15 cars on the grid, all featuring identical technical specifications, fans can expect a close and competitive battle.

Adding local flair to the event, three Qatari drivers—Abdullah Al Khulaifi, Ghanim Al Maadheed, and Ibrahim Al Abdulghani—will take on the challenge at Losail’s 5.419-kilometer circuit. Known for its 16 demanding turns and long straight sections, the track promises an exhilarating spectacle as the drivers showcase their skills.

The Porsche Carrera Cup Middle East complements an already exceptional lineup of motorsport action at the Qatar Grand Prix. The Formula 1 Academy Race, an all-women series designed to nurture emerging female drivers, will kick off the weekend. This initiative aims to inspire a new generation of talent in motorsport.

Following the academy event, the FIA Formula 2 Championship will feature 22 drivers competing in identical single-seater cars, ensuring tight and competitive racing. As a key stepping stone to Formula 1, the Formula 2 Championship is renowned for its intense battles and rising stars.

Capping off the weekend will be the main event—the Qatar Airways Formula 1 Grand Prix on December 1. Fans will also be treated to the return of the Sprint Race, a high-intensity format that adds an extra layer of excitement to the Formula 1 schedule.

The inclusion of the Porsche Carrera Cup Middle East and other premier events underscores Losail International Circuit’s reputation as a world-class motorsport venue. With a packed schedule of racing action and local talent in the spotlight, the Qatar Grand Prix weekend promises to be a memorable finale to the 2024 Formula 1 season.
