Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources processed 1,318 applications for industrial customs exemption services during December, a move aimed at supporting local industry and boosting the country’s global competitiveness.
The exemptions allow national industrial establishments to import essential industrial inputs without paying customs duties. The ministry said that the applications processed in December included 7,645 items for raw materials and 14,156 items for machinery, equipment, and spare parts.
Jarrah Al-Jarrah, the ministry’s official spokesperson, explained that the customs exemption service is part of a wider package of incentives and services provided by the ministry to support industrial investors at every stage of their projects. These range from initial planning and project implementation to production and export.
Al-Jarrah noted that the service supports the objectives of the National Industrial Strategy, which seeks to empower the Saudi industrial sector and strengthen the national industrial base. He added that the ministry plays a key role in stimulating industrial growth and accelerating the development of local production capabilities.
Industrial establishments holding a valid industrial license can use the service to receive exemptions on imports of machinery, equipment, spare parts, raw materials, semi-finished materials, and packaging materials that are directly required for production. The ministry emphasized that the process is streamlined and can be completed through its digital platform, Sina’i, allowing faster access to the benefits.
The ministry said the service helps reduce production costs, encourage domestic manufacturing, and create new industrial opportunities. It also aims to enhance national production sectors and support local factories, ensuring that Saudi Arabia continues to develop a robust and competitive industrial sector.
By facilitating the import of essential materials and equipment, the customs exemption service is seen as a critical tool for industrial growth, attracting investment, and enabling Saudi companies to compete more effectively on the international stage.
The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources continues to implement programs and services that support industrial investors, reflecting the government’s broader focus on economic diversification and strengthening the country’s industrial infrastructure.
