What You Need To Get Started
The game of golf is not one that you can simply step into gingerly, there are some tools you will need to get your game started.
There is a minimum requirement of clubs and equipment you’ll need to kickstart your game, particularly if you’re heading straight for the course and not the driving range. You’ll need the following:
- A decent set of Golf clubs
- A good pair of golf shoes
- At least 15-20 balls, new or used
- An outfit to match the club’s regulations regarding clothing
- A bag for the clubs with wheels or without
- This app to keep score and find different course ranges
How To Play Golf For Beginners
Now, that you’ve got the equipment sorted it’s time to tee-off. We highly recommend that you go to the driving range a few times before you go to the course and practice your swing. Golf is a game that might look easy enough but takes quite a bit of hand-eye coordination to play properly.
If you do decide to head straight for the course then it’s better to phone the clubhouse before and book your tee-off time, if you merely just pitch up, it might be a while before the club has an open slot for you.
Once you’ve made your way to the first-off box, depending on how far away the green is, you want to choose an appropriate club. If the hole is a par 4 or 5 then you can start off with a driver.
When using a driver you will want to place your tee at the height of the driver’s head. Once you’ve placed the ball on the tee, relax your shoulders, grip the club, and swing away, remembering to keep your head down.
Should the ball not be on the fairway and out of bounds you can try again until you get into the fairway. From their try to get as close to the green and sink the ball into the hole.
