France national football team will head into the upcoming World Cup with one of the most expensive attacking units in the game, presenting head coach Didier Deschamps with a difficult selection task ahead of their opening match against Senegal national football team on June 16.
Estimates from CIES Football Observatory and Transfermarkt suggest that France’s 10 attacking players carry a combined market value of around €855 million, underlining the depth of talent available to the 2018 world champions.
At the centre of the squad is Kylian Mbappé, who continues to shine for Real Madrid. The 27-year-old forward is valued at €200 million and is closing in on a major milestone, needing just one more goal to equal Olivier Giroud as France’s all-time leading scorer with 57 goals.
Deschamps has a wide range of attacking options to support Mbappé. Ousmane Dembélé offers pace and finishing ability, while Michael Olise has enjoyed a standout season with Bayern Munich, recording 18 goals and 25 assists in 44 appearances.
Young talent is also pushing for a starting role. Désiré Doué, valued at €115 million, has impressed at Paris Saint-Germain, while Rayan Cherki has drawn attention since his move to Manchester City. Cherki’s creativity and vision have earned praise from coach Pep Guardiola, who has compared his passing instincts to some of the finest players he has worked with.
Other key contributors include Bradley Barcola, valued at €70 million, and Maghnes Akliouche of AS Monaco, known for his direct running and ability to score individual goals.
France’s attacking depth extends further with Marcus Thuram, currently in strong form with Inter Milan, and Jean-Philippe Mateta, a consistent scorer for Crystal Palace. Randal Kolo Muani, on loan at Tottenham Hotspur, remains part of the mix despite a dip in form.
With such a wealth of attacking talent, the challenge for Deschamps lies in balancing experience with emerging players. Expectations remain high as France prepares to begin its campaign, backed by a forward line capable of influencing matches at the highest level.
