Cristiano Ronaldo Set to Miss Al-Nassr’s Opening Two Matches After Wedding

Cristiano Ronaldo Set to Miss Al-Nassr’s Opening Two Matches After Wedding

Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to miss Al-Nassr’s first two competitive matches of the 2026-27 season after being granted an extended break following his recent wedding in Portugal, according to Saudi newspaper Arriyadiyah.

The Al-Nassr captain celebrated his marriage to longtime partner Georgina Rodriguez in his native Portugal on Tuesday night. The couple have been together for several years and have children together.

Ronaldo’s extended absence means he is unlikely to feature when Al-Nassr begin their Saudi Pro League campaign against Al-Fateh on Saturday. The Riyadh-based side will then face another early test just three days later, when they meet Al-Diriyah in the Round of 32 of the King Cup.

Both matches are scheduled to take place in Riyadh, but Ronaldo is not expected to be available for either fixture.

The Portuguese forward has already missed Al-Nassr’s preseason training program after receiving additional time away from the squad. The decision was made by new head coach Ange Postecoglou, who allowed the veteran forward to extend his break after his international commitments.

Ronaldo’s absence will be closely watched as Al-Nassr begin life under Postecoglou. The Australian coach took charge of the club with the task of building a competitive side capable of challenging for domestic honours.

The 41-year-old Ronaldo remains one of the most important players in the Al-Nassr squad. Since joining the Saudi club, he has continued to play a central role in the team’s attacking plans and has regularly been among the league’s leading scorers.

His delayed return means Al-Nassr could have to start their campaign without their captain and main attacking threat. The club will need other forwards to step up during the opening fixtures while Ronaldo completes his time away from the squad.

According to Arriyadiyah, Ronaldo is expected to make his first competitive appearance of the new campaign away against Al-Riyadh on August 21.

That match could mark the beginning of his latest season in Saudi Arabia, where he remains a major figure both on and off the pitch. His return is likely to provide a significant boost for Postecoglou as Al-Nassr look to make a strong start to the new season.
