Saudi football club Al-Nassr are reportedly in negotiations with a group of American and Saudi investors over a potential deal worth up to $500 million for a stake in the club.
According to Asharq News and Portuguese newspaper A Bola, discussions are ongoing and the parties hope to complete an agreement by the end of the current season. One of the reported objectives of the proposed investment is to bring captain Cristiano Ronaldo into the ownership structure as an investor and co-owner.
Ronaldo joined Al-Nassr in December 2022 after leaving Manchester United and has remained one of the club’s most prominent figures. His arrival was followed by a series of high-profile transfers to the Saudi Pro League as the country sought to raise the international profile of its football competition.
The reported investment discussions come shortly after a change in Al-Nassr’s ownership structure. In August, 25% of the club was transferred to Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, leaving the sovereign wealth fund as the organisation’s sole stakeholder, according to the report.
No final agreement has been reached, and the terms of any potential investment remain subject to negotiations. The reported value of up to $500 million would make the proposal a significant transaction for the club.
The talks also follow financial difficulties that have affected Al-Nassr. The club has faced sanctions linked to debts reported at more than $213 million, equivalent to around 800 million Saudi riyals.
Al-Nassr has also been reported to have spent about $494 million on player transfers over a five-year period. The figures highlight the scale of investment in the club as it competes at the highest level of Saudi football.
The potential arrival of outside investors could provide additional financial resources while giving the club a broader ownership base. The reported interest from American and Saudi investors also reflects growing international attention toward Saudi football and its leading clubs.
Ronaldo’s possible involvement would add another high-profile element to the proposed transaction. The Portugal captain has played a central role at Al-Nassr since his move to the club and has continued to attract global attention to the Saudi Pro League.
For now, the reported investment remains under negotiation. Any deal would depend on the investors and Al-Nassr reaching agreement on the value of the stake, ownership arrangements and the role Ronaldo could play in the club.
