Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal Set for Potential Saudi Pro League Title Decider

The new Roshn Saudi League season begins on August 13 and runs until May 29, 2027. The campaign will feature 34 rounds and 306 matches, with Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr beginning their title defence against a strong group of challengers.

Al-Hilal, Al-Ittihad and Al-Ahli are expected to compete near the top of the table, while several ambitious clubs will look to challenge the established contenders.

The opening weekend immediately offers plenty of interest. Al-Nassr will host Al-Fateh as new manager Ange Postecoglou begins his first league campaign in Saudi Arabia. Diriyah Club will make its first Saudi Pro League appearance against Al-Ahli, who finished third last season and have won the AFC Champions League Elite in consecutive campaigns.

Al-Hilal will welcome newly promoted Al-Faisaly, while Al-Ittihad face Al-Kholood under new manager Jens Wissing. Al-Shabab will meet Al-Qadsiah, who finished fourth last season and will again be guided by Brendan Rodgers.

The title contenders will quickly face one another. Al-Qadsiah host Al-Ittihad in Matchweek Two, followed by Al-Hilal’s meeting with Al-Ahli in the third round.

Matchweek Five will see Al-Ittihad take on Al-Nassr in a clash between the previous two league champions. The Eastern Derby between Al-Qadsiah and Al-Ettifaq follows in Matchweek Seven, before Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad meet in the Saudi Clasico one round later.

The major fixtures continue into the second half of the season. Al-Nassr will face Al-Qadsiah in Matchweek 14, setting up a managerial contest between Postecoglou and Rodgers.

Matchweek 15 brings the Sea Derby between Al-Ittihad and Al-Ahli, while Matchweek 17 features the first Riyadh Derby of the season between Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal. The match could also provide a meeting between Ronaldo and Karim Benzema.

Several fixtures could have a major impact on the title race during the final rounds. Al-Ahli host Al-Hilal in Matchweek 20, while Al-Nassr face Al-Ittihad two rounds later.

Al-Ittihad will host Al-Hilal in the second Saudi Clasico in Matchweek 25, followed by Al-Nassr’s home meeting with Al-Ahli in Matchweek 26.

Al-Nassr then travel to Alkhobar to face Al-Qadsiah in Matchweek 31 before the campaign reaches its potential climax.

The final round will see Al-Nassr host Al-Hilal, creating the possibility of a Riyadh Derby deciding the destination of the Saudi Pro League title.
