The United Arab Emirates experienced dramatic weather fluctuations this week, with scorching heat, unexpected rainfall, and gusty winds impacting several regions, according to the National Center of Meteorology (NCM).
The country’s lowest recorded temperature early Sunday was 27.1°C in the mountainous area of Jais, Ras Al Khaimah, while the highest soared to 49.6°C in Mezaira, Al Dhafra, by mid-afternoon. In addition to the extreme heat, light rain fell over parts of Ras Al Khaimah, including Showkah and Wadi Isfay.
The NCM has issued a five-day weather forecast beginning Sunday, warning of continued high temperatures, dusty winds, and intermittent cloud cover. These conditions are linked to a surface low-pressure system stretching from the East, combined with a weak upper-air disturbance, meteorologists said.
Sunday Forecast – July 27
The weather is expected to remain fair to partly cloudy, with a chance of convective clouds forming in the eastern and southern parts of the country. These could bring scattered showers. -
Coastal areas: Highs of 42°C to 47°C; lows of 29°C to 33°C
-
Inland regions: Highs of 44°C to 49°C; lows of 27°C to 32°C
-
Mountainous areas: Highs of 36°C to 41°C; lows of 26°C to 31°C
