UAE Airlines Cancel Flights Amid Escalating Middle East Tensions and Airspace Closures

A number of major airlines based in the United Arab Emirates have announced widespread flight cancellations and route suspensions due to increasing regional tensions and growing airspace restrictions across the Middle East. The measures, which impact thousands of passengers, are being implemented with safety as the foremost concern.

Emirates Suspends Operations to Four Countries
Dubai-based Emirates Airline has halted all flights to and from Iraq, Iran, Jordan, and Lebanon. The airline cited ongoing security concerns as the reason for the suspension. Flights to Amman and Beirut will remain suspended through June 22, while services to Tehran, Baghdad, and Basra are canceled until June 30.

Passengers with connections via Dubai to these destinations, including those connecting through flydubai, will not be allowed to board from their origin points. Emirates has advised affected travelers to reach out to their travel agents or the airline directly for rebooking options and has encouraged customers to monitor flight status updates via the airline’s website.

In a statement, Emirates said, “The safety of our passengers, crew, and operations remains our highest priority,” adding that the situation is under constant review.

Etihad Airways Cancels Tel Aviv Flights, Resumes Others
Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways has also been affected by airspace restrictions. While flights between Abu Dhabi and Tel Aviv remain canceled through June 17, routes to Amman and Beirut are set to resume with adjusted schedules from June 15.

Etihad is actively rerouting other services to avoid restricted areas and will not allow passengers to transit through Abu Dhabi to canceled destinations. “This remains a developing situation, and some delays may occur,” said an airline spokesperson. Passengers are being advised to consult the airline’s website or contact center for real-time information.

Wizz Air Halts Flights to Tel Aviv and Amman
Low-cost carrier Wizz Air has suspended flights to and from Tel Aviv and Amman until June 20. The airline has also warned of potential disruptions on other routes that overfly restricted airspace, including those to and from Abu Dhabi.

Affected customers can rebook without charge or request a refund. Wizz Air has asked passengers to check its website or app for the latest updates.

flydubai Suspends Routes to Multiple Countries
flydubai has issued a list of suspended destinations that include Jordan, Lebanon, Syria (until June 16), Belarus and Russia (until June 17), and Iran, Iraq, and Israel (until June 20). Transit passengers through Dubai International Airport bound for these countries will not be allowed to travel until further notice.

Air Arabia Cancels Flights to Central Asia and the Caucasus
Sharjah-based Air Arabia canceled several flights on June 13 and 14, including those to Iran, Iraq, Jordan, and multiple countries in Central Asia and the Caucasus. The airline said passengers connecting through Sharjah or Abu Dhabi to affected areas will not be accepted for onward travel.

Airlines across the UAE have apologized for the disruptions and pledged to assist travelers with alternative arrangements as the security situation develops.
