The Ministry of Tourism has reaffirmed that all tourist hospitality facilities across Saudi Arabia must adhere to a minimum 20-hour stay requirement between check-in and check-out, in line with global hospitality standards.
The policy, outlined in a recent Saudi Press Agency report, requires hotels, resorts, and other accommodations to clearly state check-in and check-out times in reservation confirmations. While establishments can set their own schedules based on location and clientele, they must ensure guests receive the full minimum stay period.
Officials clarified that late arrivals do not extend or alter the scheduled check-out time. For example, if a guest checks in at 10:00 p.m. with a stated check-out time of 12:00 p.m. the next day, the booking will still be counted as the full stay, and any lost hours will be at the guest’s expense.
The ministry explained that the 20-hour minimum helps facilities maintain high cleanliness and preparation standards for incoming guests. Timing is calculated strictly from the reservation record, ensuring consistency and fairness.
In addition to stay duration rules, the ministry stressed that guests are entitled to receive the exact room type, services, and amenities advertised by the property or booking platform. Tourists are urged to carefully review the terms and policies of their chosen accommodation before confirming reservations.
To support travelers, the Ministry of Tourism operates the Unified Tourism Center, which can be reached by dialing 930 for inquiries or to file complaints. Officials encouraged visitors to make use of this service if they encounter issues related to booking accuracy, services, or compliance with hospitality regulations.
The ministry reiterated its commitment to upholding international best practices in the tourism sector, protecting guest rights, and elevating the overall visitor experience as Saudi Arabia expands its travel and leisure offerings under Vision 2030.
In recent years, the Kingdom has invested heavily in tourism infrastructure and regulatory frameworks to attract millions of visitors annually. By implementing strict standards for accommodation services, officials aim to position Saudi Arabia as a premier destination known for quality, transparency, and customer care.
