RTA Announces Service Adjustments for Hijri New Year Holiday in Dubai

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced revised operating hours for various public services in observance of the upcoming Hijri New Year holiday (1447H), which falls on Friday, June 27.

The adjusted schedule will apply to public transport services, customer service centres, vehicle testing centres, parking zones, and marine transport.

Customer Service Centres

All RTA Customer Happiness Centres will be closed on Friday for the holiday. However, the Smart Customer Happiness Centres in Umm Ramool, Deira, Al Barsha, and the RTA Head Office will remain operational 24/7, as usual.

Free Public Parking

RTA confirmed that all public parking zones across Dubai will be free of charge on Friday, June 27. This temporary waiver does not apply to multi-level parking terminals, where regular fees will remain in effect. Paid parking will resume citywide on Saturday, June 28.

Public Transport Schedule

The Dubai Metro will run extended hours on Friday, operating from 5:00 am until 1:00 am the following day. The Dubai Tram will follow a similar schedule, running from 6:00 am until 1:00 am.

Commuters planning to use Dubai’s public bus network are encouraged to check the S’hail app for updated schedules specific to the holiday.

Marine and Vehicle Testing Services

Marine transport services, including water taxis and ferries, will operate according to revised schedules available on RTA’s official platforms.

Service provider centres offering vehicle technical testing will be closed on Friday and will resume normal operations on Saturday, June 28.

The RTA advised all residents and visitors to plan their journeys in advance and stay updated via official communication channels. The adjustments aim to ensure smooth and efficient transport services while allowing staff and the public to observe the holiday.

The Hijri New Year marks the beginning of the Islamic lunar calendar and is a public holiday in the UAE.
