Supreme Court of Pakistan, while ruling on the petition of Justice Qazi Faiz Issa, has quashed the reference filed against him in the Supreme Judicial Council. A 10-member bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan had reserved its judgment on the petitions related to the presidential reference after the completion of arguments of lawyer Munir Malik on Friday morning, which was announced on Friday evening.

The decision to reject the presidential reference was taken by the bench with a majority of nine to one. However, the seven members of the bench also directed the FBR to complete its investigation into the tax issue within the next two months and send its report to the Supreme Judicial Council. Among the judges who have decided to refer the matter to the Federal Board of Revenue are Justice Umar Ata Bandial, Justice Muneeb Akhtar, Justice Sajjad Ali Shah, Justice Mazhar Alam, Justice Qazi Amin, Justice Manzoor Ahmad Malik and Justice Faisal. Arabs are included. The court said in its judgment that if any notice had been issued by the FBR earlier, it should be considered null and void.
