Islamabad, August 18, 2024 – Pakistan is currently grappling with a significant internet crisis, with the government pointing fingers at Virtual Private Network (VPN) users for the widespread slowdown in internet speeds. This issue has sparked a heated debate among citizens, tech experts, and policymakers.

Government’s Stance

The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication has issued a statement attributing the sluggish internet speeds to the rampant use of VPNs. According to officials, VPNs are being used to bypass government regulations and access restricted content, leading to an overload on the network infrastructure.
