Pakistan demands OIC framework for tackling Islamophobia

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, while addressing the 48th meeting of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers, welcomed all the Foreign Ministers of Pakistan and said that OIC represents 2 billion Muslims worldwide and as a member Pakistan would promote tolerance among Muslim countries.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that OIC is the common voice of Muslim Ummah, it is working for unity and solidarity among Muslim countries.

Welcoming the announcement of March 15 against Islamophobia, the Foreign Minister said that Pakistan had played a significant role in passing a resolution against Islamophobia. Regarding global tensions, the Foreign Minister said that tensions between the West and the East are a threat to world peace and that Muslim countries, from Yemen to Syria, are facing conflicts, which is currently causing a turbulent situation in the world, Palestine. The people of Pakistan are not being given their due, foreign interference is going on in Muslim countries. He said that in other Muslim countries including Pakistan corruption, illegal transfer of assets is a major problem, people in Muslim countries are facing difficulties due to economic injustice, strong ties in Muslim countries can play an important role in dealing with the financial crisis, backwardness, poverty, and corruption are a major threat to society.
