Pakistan Army handed security of ‘red zone’

ISLAMABAD: Government of Pakistan has handed over the security of Islamabad’s red zone to the Pakistan Army.

Addressing an important press conference with respect to the current political situation, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said that Government of Pakistan after a detailed consultation with all the opposition parties and then later with the relevant quarters of the military hierarchy, has decided to handover the security of red zone to the Pakistan Army.

He told that for this purpose a requisition has been made and it will be acted upon in the next 2-3 hours.

“The government decided that all the political issues will be handled politically, however nobody will be allowed to worsen the security situation of the federal capital”, added the Interior Minister.

He said that the government is ready to open 20 constituencies, but the PTI diverted from its basic demand of probing polls-rigging in 4 constituencies and resorted to a long march.

Nisar said, “We demonstrated patience and facilitated the marches in every way but the agitating parties kept changing their demands”.
