Fly Nas, the leading Saudi Arabian carrier, has signed a memorandum of understanding with EveAir, a New York-listed electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft company, to explore the future of operating electric aircraft in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The partnership aims to strengthen the aviation industry in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by building and supporting the future of the local electric air travel ecosystem. The partnership comes in line with Saudi Arabia’s efforts to achieve its sustainability goals, as the Kingdom seeks to reduce carbon emissions from the aviation sector.
The partnership includes developing, testing, and operating electric aircraft in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, developing and providing electric air transportation services to customers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and collaborating in research and development and innovation in the field of electric aviation.
The two companies are expected to begin implementing the partnership in 2024, targeting to launch electric aircraft operations in Riyadh and Jeddah by 2026.
