Dubai Prepares for 2025 New Year’s Eve with Extensive Security and Transport Plans

Dubai’s Events Security Committee has confirmed comprehensive preparations for the 2025 New Year’s Eve celebrations, including continuous Dubai Metro operations for 43 hours and extensive road closures, as the emirate prepares for large-scale festivities across multiple locations.

Building on last year’s framework, Dubai will be divided into four operational sectors — North, Central, West, and Maritime — to streamline coordination and ensure public safety. Fireworks will be displayed at 36 locations, including Burj Khalifa, Global Village, Bab Al Shams Desert Resort, Atlantis The Royal, Al Marmoom Oasis, Expo City, Dubai Frame, and Dubai Design District. Dedicated worker viewing zones, equipped with large screens and meal services, will allow employees to enjoy the celebrations safely while reducing congestion at main sites.

Dubai Police will deploy 8,530 officers and 1,145 patrols, supported by 33 marine rescue boats, Civil Defence vehicles, and ambulances. Six mobile operations rooms will oversee activities across the emirate. Service tents in Downtown Dubai will provide lost-and-found services, first aid, logistical support, assistance for lost children, and visitor guidance.

Major General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri highlighted the preparations, noting coordination meetings, tabletop exercises, and site inspections at all 36 locations. He explained the sector-based operational model: the North Sector includes four locations, the Central Sector nine, the West Sector 23, and the Maritime Sector covers coastal and water-based events. Six mobile operations rooms will ensure seamless communication between agencies.

Authorities urged residents and visitors to follow traffic instructions and avoid congested areas. Emergency and non-emergency reports can be made via 999 and 901. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has implemented road closures and a detailed traffic management plan, particularly around Burj Khalifa. Roads affected include Al Asayel Street, Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, Burj Khalifa Street, Al Mustaqbal Street, and parts of the Financial Centre area.

Metro services on the Red and Green Lines will operate continuously from 5:00am on 31 December 2024 until midnight on 1 January 2025. In addition, 260 shuttle buses, including 20 double-deckers, will transport visitors to key locations. Parking has been expanded with 900 additional spaces at Al Wasl Club and Al Jaffiliya, with shuttle services starting from 3:00pm. Traffic lights will be monitored in real time, and smart screens will provide updates on closures and alternative routes.

Dubai Municipality will deploy 2,776 staff and 246 vehicles to manage public health, food safety, and waste operations. Civil Defence will mobilize 1,097 firefighters and 123 vehicles after safety inspections at 257 facilities. Dubai Ambulance will activate 224 emergency points and deploy 593 paramedics, supported by 42 trained volunteers.

Dubai Health has set up a fully equipped field hospital near Burj Khalifa, reinforced seven medical points, placed six hospitals and four outpatient clinics on high alert, and deployed 1,800 medical and administrative staff. On-site and remote services, including telemedicine and home care, will be available for patients throughout the celebrations.

Lieutenant General Abdulla Khalifa Al Marri said, “Dubai Police and our partners have stepped up measures to deliver unmatched security and services during this global event, reflecting Dubai’s leadership in hosting world-class celebrations.”
