China Calls for Dialogue After US-Pakistan Ceasefire Proposal Rejected by Iran

China has urged all parties involved to pursue dialogue and seize opportunities for peace, following the rejection by Iran of a US ceasefire proposal brokered by Pakistan.

“China hopes relevant parties will seize the opportunity for peace and bridge differences through dialogue,” a Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson said on Tuesday when asked about the proposal. Mao Ning, the spokesperson, emphasized that China welcomes all efforts conducive to peace and supports Pakistan’s active mediation efforts.

Speaking at a regular press briefing, Mao highlighted that reaching a ceasefire as soon as possible and resuming dialogue is the common wish of the international community. She added that China is prepared to play a constructive role in facilitating such discussions.

The US-backed initiative, coordinated with Pakistan, sought to halt escalating tensions in the region. However, Iran declined the proposal, citing concerns over its terms and conditions. The rejection has drawn international attention, as multiple nations and organizations have called for de-escalation and renewed talks to prevent further conflict.

China’s statement signals its continued commitment to diplomacy and regional stability. Observers note that Beijing has consistently promoted negotiation and dialogue as tools for resolving international disputes. By supporting Pakistan’s mediation efforts, China is positioning itself as a potential bridge between the conflicting parties.

The call for dialogue comes amid heightened regional tensions, with the international community closely monitoring developments. Analysts suggest that any progress toward a ceasefire would require sustained engagement from multiple stakeholders, including regional powers and global organizations.

Mao Ning stressed that China’s approach is aimed at facilitating communication, reducing hostilities, and ensuring that diplomatic channels remain open. “Reaching a ceasefire as soon as possible and resuming dialogue is the common wish of the international community,” she reiterated, signaling Beijing’s readiness to contribute to peace efforts.

China’s willingness to play a constructive role aligns with its broader foreign policy approach of promoting stability and conflict resolution through multilateral engagement. As discussions continue, attention remains focused on whether renewed talks can be initiated and whether the parties will commit to a framework that addresses mutual concerns.

International observers note that the outcome of these diplomatic efforts could have significant implications for regional security, trade, and geopolitical alignments. The coming weeks are likely to be critical in determining whether dialogue can overcome recent setbacks and bring about a meaningful reduction in tensions.
