Apple Gears Up for September Launch of iPhone 17 Series with Major Upgrades and Expanded Product Roadmap

Apple Gears Up for September Launch of iPhone 17 Series with Major Upgrades and Expanded Product Roadmap

Apple is expected to unveil its highly anticipated iPhone 17 lineup in early September, continuing its tradition of annual fall product launches. Industry insiders suggest the company is eyeing the week of September 8 for the announcement, with likely keynote dates on Tuesday, September 9 or Wednesday, September 10. Pre-orders are expected to open on September 12, with retail availability beginning September 19.

While the standard iPhone 17 will bring incremental improvements, Apple is reportedly planning significant upgrades for the Pro models. The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max are expected to feature a redesigned horizontal camera bar on the back—marking a major departure from the familiar vertical layout and giving the devices a sleeker, more symmetrical aesthetic.

A new addition to the lineup, the iPhone 17 Air, is rumored to be Apple’s slimmest phone yet, approximately 2 mm thinner than the current iPhone 16 Pro. The Air model is aimed at users seeking a lightweight and streamlined design without compromising performance.

Display enhancements are also on the horizon. The base iPhone 17 may see its screen size increase from 6.1 inches to 6.3 inches and could support a 120Hz refresh rate for the first time—a feature previously exclusive to Pro models. All models are expected to benefit from new anti-reflective coatings, improving outdoor visibility.

Under the hood, the new iPhones will be powered by Apple’s A19 chip, offering improved performance and energy efficiency. The Pro models are likely to receive an even more advanced version of the chip, further optimizing camera and display functions.

Looking beyond the iPhone 17, Apple is preparing an aggressive product pipeline through 2026. According to Bloomberg reports, the company plans to introduce a new budget-friendly iPhone 17e early next year, equipped with the same A19 chip but offered at a lower price point. This marks a strategic shift toward more frequent updates for entry-level devices.

In the iPad segment, refreshed low-end models are expected by spring 2026, followed by new iPad Air units with the M4 chip. An iPad Pro upgrade with the M5 chip is slated for late 2025. The MacBook Pro and MacBook Air are also in line for M5-powered updates, possibly with OLED displays.

Apple is also working on its first new external display since the Studio Display and a smart home hub with enhanced Siri functionality, both scheduled for release in 2026.

As Apple faces increasing competition and a cooling global market, its push toward more regular updates across all price tiers—and deeper ecosystem integration—signals a clear effort to maintain its market dominance. The September event is set to not only showcase the iPhone 17 series but also offer a glimpse into the company’s wider hardware ambitions for the coming years.
