Saudi mobile telecom operator Zain KSA has commercially launched Advanced 5G technology for individual customers, becoming the first company in the Kingdom to offer the service.
The launch builds on the company’s earlier introduction of a 5G Standalone network in Saudi Arabia and reflects its ongoing efforts to expand the country’s digital infrastructure.
Advanced 5G is designed to provide faster speeds, lower response times and more reliable connections. Zain KSA said the technology will support everyday services including ultra-high-definition streaming, cloud gaming, video calls and applications powered by artificial intelligence.
Customers in areas with heavy network traffic are expected to benefit from more stable performance, while the technology is also designed to improve indoor coverage and battery efficiency on compatible devices.
The service will initially be available in Riyadh and Jeddah as the company continues to expand its network. The rollout uses the 600 MHz spectrum band alongside other frequencies to strengthen coverage, particularly indoors and in locations requiring a wider signal range.
Zain KSA said the technology will also improve overall network performance by reducing response times, supporting better connectivity for users on the move and increasing upload efficiency.
The upgraded network is expected to support future telecom technologies, including Voice over New Radio and RedCap, which are being developed for next-generation digital services and connected devices.
Saad bin Abdulrahman Al-Sadhan, chief executive officer of Zain KSA, said the commercial launch represented a new stage in the company’s efforts to improve connectivity for consumers.
He said the rollout would turn the latest global developments in telecommunications into services available for everyday use.
Al-Sadhan added that the investment reflected the company’s commitment to developing advanced digital infrastructure that supports Saudi Arabia’s economic ambitions and helps individuals and businesses benefit from the expansion of the digital economy.
The launch is part of Zain KSA’s broader strategy to develop a network capable of supporting the growing use of artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things and other digital services.
The company said Advanced 5G would play a role in strengthening the Kingdom’s digital transformation and supporting the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
By bringing the technology to individual customers, Zain KSA is seeking to expand access to advanced connectivity while strengthening its position in Saudi Arabia’s rapidly developing telecommunications market.
