Saudi Arabia’s Operating Revenues Index increased 6.1 percent year on year in June, supported by strong growth in manufacturing and financial and insurance activities, according to preliminary data from the General Authority for Statistics.
Manufacturing activity recorded a 16.9 percent annual increase in June, while financial and insurance activities grew by the same rate. The figures point to continued expansion across key parts of Saudi Arabia’s non-oil economy as the Kingdom advances its Vision 2030 diversification programme.
GASTAT said wholesale and retail trade, including motor vehicle and motorcycle repair, increased 0.6 percent year on year, while construction activity rose 2.3 percent.
Information and communication activities also expanded, recording annual growth of 5.4 percent.
The data follows broader signs of economic growth in Saudi Arabia. GASTAT reported that the Kingdom’s real gross domestic product increased 3 percent year on year in the first quarter, with oil and non-oil activities both expanding by 2.9 percent.
Non-oil activities remained the largest contributor to overall GDP growth, adding 1.7 percentage points during the period.
Despite the annual increase, the Operating Revenues Index declined 3.2 percent from May. The monthly fall was largely linked to a 27.3 percent drop in mining and quarrying activity.
Information and communication activity decreased 0.2 percent month on month, while accommodation and food services fell 1.3 percent. Other service activities declined 0.2 percent, and arts, entertainment and recreation dropped 1.5 percent.
The employees’ compensation index showed stronger growth. It increased 9.1 percent year on year in June, supported by higher compensation across several sectors.
Manufacturing employees’ compensation increased 11.8 percent, construction rose 6.5 percent and wholesale and retail trade, including vehicle and motorcycle repairs, increased 7.6 percent.
Mining and quarrying compensation grew 3.9 percent, while financial and insurance activities recorded a 7.8 percent rise.
On a monthly basis, the Employees’ Compensation Index increased 1.6 percent. Manufacturing compensation climbed 2.6 percent, construction rose 1.4 percent and mining and quarrying increased 0.7 percent. Financial and insurance activities grew 2.4 percent, while transportation and storage increased 2.1 percent.
Building activity also showed stronger momentum. The number of building permits issued in June rose 20.3 percent from a year earlier to 5,045, compared with 4,192 permits in June 2025.
However, permits edged down 0.2 percent from May, when 5,056 were issued.
GASTAT said its Short-Term Business Statistics programme tracks monthly indicators covering establishments operating across the business sector and is intended to measure short-term changes in economic activity.
The latest figures show continued strength in several non-oil sectors, although month-to-month fluctuations underline the uneven pace of activity across the Saudi economy.
