Pakistan is a land that gave birth to various successful and strong women who not only changed their lives, fates and became an inspirational public icon for other women as well. Pakistan is the only Islamic country where a woman has become prime minister twice and led the country.
Not just the elite have such women in fact many middle-class and struggling families also have such ladies who are breaking stereotypes and taboos and doing amazing and magical work changing the overall perception of Pakistani ladies globally.
They are business tycoons, into politics, elected prime minister or parliamentarians, entrepreneurs, CEOs and board members etc. They have worked so hard to make their way into the fortune Forbes list and getting their seat in the board room, they are electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, civil engineers, software engineers, aeronautical engineers, and list goes on. Above all they are scientists, doctors, pilots, lawyers, judges and breaking stereotypes, and changing their fate and also their families as well.
Recently we have seen news of USA has chosen students for their scholarship program and that batch includes many female students, these ladies are making it happen and changing the history of Pakistan. Nonetheless, there are many female names in Forbes ’30 under 30′ social entrepreneurs list such as Muniba Mazari (Artist, Activist, Motivational speaker), Justice (retd) Nasira Iqbal, Nasreen Zehra (Director, Aurat Foundation) and Mira Phailbus (Educator).
On the other hand, many ladies from underprivileged families also changing their lives by opening small shops, restaurants, cafes, salons, schools and list goes on, they are not just contributing to the economy, society and also taking care of their families as well.
This change in the overall perception of a woman from just a “homemaker” to “Entrepreneur or boss” is due to the government’s initiative related to gender-balanced society and professional world, where they want society to be evolved and women work in all segments and areas and no work should be a taboo or should be gender-specific in this regard latest initiative by SECP is to hire at least one female director in listed companies.
Furthermore, the government is also bringing more girls from minorities and different communities living in Pakistan to maintain a balance between all and treat all ladies equally. Recently, we have observed news that Sindh police has appointed the first Hindu female deputy superintended, her name is “Manisha Rupita” she is primarily from Jacobabad District and has a degree in a doctor of medical therapy from Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC).
This revolutionary change was never easy and came ever since women have decided to not just limit their selves in the role of daughter, sister or wife rather they wanted an identity in society as well besides their primary roles. The female gender becomes your strength when you decide to go out and work.
