Sharjah Introduces Changes to Parking System, Expands Paid Zones

Sharjah Introduces Changes to Parking System, Expands Paid Zones

January 19, 2025

Sharjah has introduced multiple changes to its parking system since late 2024, with adjustments aimed at improving accessibility and management. These changes include extended parking hours and the introduction of paid parking zones in Al Dhaid and Kalba, enhancing the emirate’s parking infrastructure.

In Sharjah, paid parking spaces are marked with blue and white curb markings accompanied by clear signage. Motorists can choose between daily parking fees or prepaid subscriptions, which offer flexible plans for individuals and businesses. Subscription options include personal plans for all areas or specific zones, while businesses can opt for a city-wide plan. Fees vary based on the selected subscription.

Seven-Day Parking Zones

In October 2024, Sharjah announced new timings for seven-day parking zones, which came into effect on November 1. These zones, identified by blue parking signs, now require payment from 8:00 AM to midnight, an increase from the previous hours of 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM.

The 16-hour paid parking zones operate seven days a week, including public holidays. Motorists can pay fees via SMS or other available methods.

Paid Parking in Al Dhaid

As of January 1, 2025, motorists in Al Dhaid are required to pay parking fees from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM, Saturday through Thursday. Parking remains free on Fridays, except in areas designated for continuous paid parking throughout the week, including weekends and public holidays.

Paid Parking in Kalba

Kalba will implement paid parking starting February 1, 2025, according to an announcement by the city’s municipality. The timings will mirror those in Al Dhaid, with fees applicable from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM, Saturday through Thursday. Parking will be free on Fridays, except in specific zones where fees apply continuously.

Improved Options for Motorists

The city’s parking system continues to evolve to meet the needs of residents and visitors. Extended operating hours in seven-day zones and the inclusion of Al Dhaid and Kalba in the paid parking network reflect efforts to streamline traffic management and improve parking availability.

With flexible subscription plans and various payment options, the changes are expected to make parking more convenient while generating revenue for infrastructure development.

Motorists are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the new timings and zones to avoid fines and ensure smooth travel within the emirate. Additional information, including subscription details and hourly fees, is available through official channels.
