Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, met with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, on Sunday during the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York. The high-level meeting marks a continued effort to strengthen bilateral ties between the two regional powers.
Discussions between the ministers focused on enhancing relations across various sectors, emphasizing the importance of maintaining coordination and consultation to further the progress made in diplomatic engagements. The meeting also addressed the latest developments in the Gaza Strip, underscoring the shared concern over the region’s stability.
Accompanying Prince Faisal were several key officials, including Saudi Arabia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Abdulaziz Al-Wasil, Director General of the Foreign Minister’s Office, Abdulrahman AlDawood, and Advisor to the Foreign Minister, Mohammed Al-Yahya.
In addition to his talks with Iran, Prince Faisal met with Uzbekistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bakhtiyar Saidov. Their discussions centered on strengthening bilateral cooperation in various fields and the importance of intensifying both bilateral and multilateral coordination on issues of mutual interest.
The Saudi Foreign Minister also held talks with Chad’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration, and Chadians Abroad, Abderaman Koulamallah. The two ministers exchanged views on a range of regional and international issues of shared concern, signaling Saudi Arabia’s commitment to expanding its diplomatic reach across multiple continents.
