The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) has announced the official working hours for federal government employees during the Holy Month of Ramadan 1446 Hijri.
According to the circular issued by FAHR, ministries and federal authorities will operate from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. from Monday to Thursday. On Fridays, working hours will be shortened to three hours, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
FAHR has also allowed ministries and federal entities to implement flexible or remote work schedules as needed, provided that they adhere to the approved daily working hours. Additionally, up to 70% of federal government employees will be permitted to work from home on Fridays during Ramadan, in line with the regulations.
Ramadan Expected to Begin on March 1
The UAE’s International Astronomy Centre (IAC) recently projected that Ramadan will likely begin on Saturday, March 1. The crescent moon is expected to be visible the night before, signaling the start of the holy month.
The exact commencement date of Ramadan will be confirmed following moon-sighting observations conducted by dedicated committees on February 28. Depending on the moon’s visibility, Ramadan typically lasts for either 29 or 30 days.
The adjusted working hours during Ramadan aim to accommodate the spiritual and physical needs of employees observing fasting, while maintaining productivity and operational efficiency across federal government entities.
