UAE telecom giant e& UAE has successfully conducted advanced tests on the recently allocated 6 GHz and 600 MHz spectrum bands, marking a major leap toward next-generation wireless connectivity. The trials, sanctioned by the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA), are expected to reshape 5G performance across the Emirates.

According to a report by the Emirates News Agency (WAM), the 6 GHz band trials achieved ultra-fast speeds of up to 10 Gbps using commercial-grade Customer Premises Equipment (CPE). The company also demonstrated that the 600 MHz band can extend 5G coverage to more than 6 kilometers, enabling strong and reliable service in both urban and remote areas.

“These tests are not just about speed—they’re about the future of wireless connectivity in the UAE,” said Marwan Bin Shakar, Acting Chief Technology Officer at e& UAE. “With 10 Gbps achieved on the 6 GHz band and long-range coverage on the 600 MHz band, we’re paving the way for 5G-Advanced and laying the foundation for 6G.”

These developments align with the UAE’s ambition to be a global leader in telecommunications innovation. The use of commercial-grade equipment suggests real-world applications are closer than ever, reinforcing the UAE’s position in next-generation wireless technology.

Enhanced Experiences for Consumers

The benefits for e& UAE’s customers could be transformative. The 6 GHz band will support ultra-high-definition 8K streaming, lightning-fast downloads, and seamless virtual and augmented reality experiences. Meanwhile, the 600 MHz band ensures uninterrupted connectivity in areas that typically suffer from weak coverage, such as dense cities and remote rural zones.

For everyday users, the impact is clear: smoother entertainment, faster communication, and better remote work experiences—even at long distances from cell towers.

Business and Economic Impacts

For businesses, the high-speed and wide-reach capabilities of the new spectrum bands could enhance cloud computing, Internet of Things (IoT) networks, and AI-driven applications. Enterprises can expect improved efficiency and greater agility through scalable wireless solutions that mimic fibre-speed performance.

Additionally, the spectrum strategy plays a key role in supporting smart city projects and industrial automation. With TDRA’s spectrum allocation for 2024, the UAE is poised to accelerate its digital transformation across sectors such as transport, manufacturing, and energy.

Boosting the Economy

According to GSMA Intelligence, 5G technology is expected to contribute more than $610 billion to the global GDP by 2030—with mid-band spectrum accounting for nearly 65% of that value. UAE’s proactive embrace of the 6 GHz and 600 MHz bands positions the country to capture a sizable share of this economic growth.

By integrating C-band, 6 GHz, and 600 MHz frequencies, e& UAE is building a robust and future-ready 5G network. This balanced spectrum deployment is expected to drive innovation, power smart infrastructure, and contribute significantly to the UAE’s economic development in the digital age.
