Dubai Night Beaches Draw 1.5 Million Visitors in 18 Months

Dubai Municipality has announced that the night beaches in Jumeirah 2, Jumeirah 3, and Umm Suqeim 1 have attracted an impressive 1.5 million visitors within 18 months of their opening in May 2023. This milestone underscores the growing popularity of these innovative beaches.

The night beaches, which cover a total distance of 800 meters, feature advanced lighting systems that ensure safe swimming around the clock. Additionally, electronic screens continuously display educational and public-awareness content to enhance visitors’ experiences.

Safety remains a top priority at these beaches. A dedicated team of rescuers, including an operations manager, an assistant operations manager, three rescue supervisors, and 16 trained lifeguards, is stationed on-site. Modern rescue tools and beach bicycles further bolster safety measures, ensuring all requirements are met. Night swimming is restricted to specific hours, running from sunset to sunrise, to maintain optimal safety standards.

Ibrahim Juma, Director of the Public Beaches and Water Canals Department at Dubai Municipality, highlighted the initiative’s success. “The high turnout at the night-swimming beaches reflects the success of a project designed to offer a unique tourism and entertainment experience,” Juma said.

“The initiative allows residents and tourists to enjoy the beauty of Dubai’s beaches at night, ensuring the highest levels of comfort, luxury, and quality of life. It aligns with Dubai’s integrated efforts to establish itself as a global leader in quality of life and as one of the top international tourist destinations,” he added.

A standout feature of the night beaches is their accessibility for people of determination and senior citizens. According to Juma, “The Dubai Municipality has ensured that the night-swimming beaches are accessible and welcoming for people of determination and senior citizens. Floating chairs for swimming, trained rescue teams to cater to their needs, and a fully equipped rest area specifically designed for them comply with the ‘Dubai Universal Design Code.’”

The beaches are designed not only to provide an enjoyable nighttime destination but also to contribute to Dubai’s vision of offering world-class amenities. With their focus on inclusivity, safety, and a luxurious experience, the night beaches are solidifying Dubai’s position as a premier global tourist hub.

As the initiative continues to thrive, it reflects the city’s commitment to innovation and enhancing the quality of life for both residents and visitors. The Dubai Municipality’s efforts have set a new benchmark for tourism and public infrastructure, ensuring that the night beaches remain a must-visit destination.
