Al Nasr of the United Arab Emirates delivered a dominant performance to secure a 5-1 victory over Qatar SC, claiming the Qatar-UAE Super Cup in its second edition at the Al Maktoum Stadium on Friday.

Ali Mabkhout was the star of the match, netting twice in the 13th and 71st minutes, while Manolo Gabbiadini (45+3’), Abdoulaye Toure (81’), and Ahmed Abdulla Mohamad Jashak (88’ penalty) contributed to the commanding win. Qatar SC’s lone goal came from Ben Malango in the 74th minute.

Backed by their home supporters, Al Nasr, last season’s UAE President’s Cup runners-up, seized control early. Mabkhout opened the scoring in the 13th minute, capitalizing on a rebound after Qatar SC goalkeeper Satea Abdelnasser blocked Moussa Ndiaye’s initial effort. Gabbiadini doubled the lead in first-half injury time, slotting home after a precise through ball from Adel Taarabt.

Qatar SC emerged with renewed determination in the second half. In the 54th minute, Carlinhos struck the post, and a minute later, Al Nasr goalkeeper Ahmed Mohamed Shambieh made a crucial save to deny him again.

Despite Qatar SC’s attempts to rally, Al Nasr’s relentless attack proved overwhelming. Mabkhout struck again in the 71st minute, converting a cross from Toure to extend the lead to 3-0. Qatar SC responded three minutes later when Malango capitalized on a Badr Benoun assist to pull one back.

However, Al Nasr continued their dominance. Toure added his name to the scoresheet in the 81st minute, scoring on a rebound after his initial effort was saved. The final blow came in the 88th minute when Jashak was fouled by Qatar SC’s goalkeeper, earning a penalty. He calmly converted from the spot to complete the 5-1 rout.

The victory marked a triumphant moment for Al Nasr, showcasing their strength against Qatar SC, who had shown promise but struggled to match Al Nasr’s intensity and precision.

The Qatar-UAE Super Cup, inaugurated last year, aims to foster footballing ties between the two nations. In the inaugural edition, Al Arabi of Qatar defeated Sharjah of the UAE 1-0. This year’s edition saw Al Nasr emphatically claim the title, setting a high standard for future competitions.
