In a major announcement for the Middle East’s hospitality sector, Wynn Al Marjan Island, set to become the first integrated gaming resort in the MENA region, aims to establish Ras Al Khaimah as one of the world’s premier gaming destinations. This $2 billion project, spearheaded by Wynn Resorts, is slated for completion in early 2027, with the potential to position itself as the fourth major gaming hub globally, according to Wynn Resort Al Marjan’s newly appointed president, Max Tappeiner.
Speaking at the ‘Future of Ras Al Khaimah Conference’ on Friday, Tappeiner highlighted the unique significance of the Wynn Al Marjan project for the UAE and the wider global market. “With Al Marjan, we’re excited for this opportunity,” Tappeiner said. “There are only three major gaming markets in the world right now, and we think this could become the fourth.”
The resort will offer a wide array of luxury amenities designed to appeal to high-end travelers and international gaming enthusiasts. Its features will include opulent suites, a state-of-the-art casino, high-end dining establishments, bars, and a relaxing beachfront day club. Wynn Al Marjan will also include a significant conference center, expected to attract corporate events and lavish weddings, catering to both leisure and business travelers.
During the conference, Tappeiner provided an update on construction progress, noting that the project remains on schedule. Accompanied by images of the ongoing work, he emphasized that Wynn Al Marjan would redefine luxury and entertainment standards not only in the UAE but worldwide, with exclusive amenities that set it apart from other resorts in the region.
One of the critical factors for the anticipated success of Wynn Al Marjan Island, according to Tappeiner, is its strategic location. Ras Al Khaimah’s proximity to international travel routes makes the resort accessible to a vast number of potential visitors. “With the opening of Wynn Al Marjan, we will be able to touch 96% of the world population within an eight-hour flight,” Tappeiner said. Within that same range, he noted, lies approximately 76% of the global population, a statistic he described as a major advantage. Furthermore, the region’s high-spending potential and wealth concentration provide a strong economic foundation for the resort’s growth.
Wynn Resorts, known for its premium revenue performance and five-star ratings, is bringing its global expertise to the UAE market through this venture. Tappeiner underscored Wynn’s commitment to excellence, adding, “It takes somebody exceptional to build a building like this, somebody who is committed to the absolute best and will not compromise on their vision. We intend to drive this asset as fast as possible to ensure we fulfill the vision.”
The launch of Wynn Al Marjan Island represents a milestone for Ras Al Khaimah and the UAE’s tourism and hospitality industry, marking the entry of luxury gaming to the region. The project is anticipated to not only boost local tourism but also cement Ras Al Khaimah as a future hub for luxury travel and entertainment.
