The UAE’s national domain, .ae, has reached a significant milestone with over 347,000 registrations, underscoring strong demand and confidence from companies, individuals, and businesses, according to the UAE’s Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA).
The .ae domain, managed by TDRA, plays a pivotal role in the UAE’s digital landscape, enhancing the country’s online infrastructure and supporting its growing digital economy. The domain name has become a trusted symbol for local and international entities looking to strengthen their digital identity, offering a mark of credibility that increases visibility and facilitates connections with a wider audience.
In line with efforts to improve the user experience, the TDRA introduced innovative features to the National Domain Registry, including the AI-powered “Name Ideas” service. Launched in 2023, this tool allows users to enter a brief description of their business, and then generates domain name suggestions tailored to reflect the business’s identity. This initiative is the first of its kind in the region, and since its launch, the service has already received over 10,000 visits.
Reflecting on the domain’s growing popularity, TDRA’s Deputy Director General for Information and Digital Government, Mohammed Ibrahim Al Zarooni, highlighted the domain’s ongoing improvements and its strategic role in enhancing digital presence. “As a result of continuous efforts by the TDRA, the UAE national domain (.ae) remains an ideal choice for companies and individuals seeking to expand their digital footprint and achieve growth in a competitive digital market,” Al Zarooni said.
The TDRA has also expanded access to .ae through a network of 26 accredited registrars, enabling businesses across sectors to secure .ae addresses and thereby cementing the domain’s role in UAE’s digital infrastructure. The domain offers increased security and functionality for users, making it particularly attractive to entities aiming to build credibility and trust among online customers.
Al Zarooni emphasized that the .ae domain extends beyond being an internet address, representing the UAE’s commitment to fostering a robust digital economy. “The UAE national domain (.ae) reflects the country’s commitment to strengthening its digital economy and providing new opportunities for businesses and individuals alike,” he added.
The UAE’s focus on digital development aligns with its vision to build a future-ready economy and increase its global competitiveness. The rising adoption of the .ae domain reflects the UAE’s proactive approach in equipping businesses with digital tools to meet the demands of an evolving global market.
With digital initiatives like the “Name Ideas” service, the UAE aims to further enhance the appeal of .ae, inviting a diverse range of users to engage with the country’s digital ecosystem.
