More than 1,300 UAE citizens were granted housing approvals worth over Dh1 billion in January under the Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme, according to an announcement by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
Sharing the update on social media platform X on Friday, Sheikh Mohammed confirmed that the number of beneficiaries would continue to rise throughout the year, with all pending requests slated for fulfillment.
“In the past two years, 13,000 applications for citizens were processed and approved. The current waiting time for approval is just two months, one of the shortest waiting periods globally,” he wrote.
Future Plans to Accelerate Housing Approvals
Looking ahead, Sheikh Mohammed outlined plans to develop an integrated housing system aimed at further reducing approval times.
“Our goal is to link all financing and housing agencies so that approvals can be granted within a single day,” he stated. “The citizen deserves better service, a better life, and a more beautiful future, God willing.”
Increased Housing Aid and Continued Support
The Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme recently increased financial aid for citizens constructing homes in designated residential compounds to Dh1.2 million. For those building outside these areas, the aid is capped at Dh800,000.
This follows a significant announcement in June 2023, when Sheikh Mohammed approved Dh1.68 billion in housing support for 2,160 new homes under the programme. These initiatives reflect the UAE’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the living standards of its citizens.
Streamlining Processes under the Zero Government Bureaucracy Programme
The advancements in housing approvals are part of the UAE’s broader Zero Government Bureaucracy Programme, which aims to eliminate unnecessary procedures and improve efficiency. The programme has played a pivotal role in reducing red tape, making the housing loan process more accessible and efficient for citizens.
Sheikh Mohammed’s announcement underscores the UAE’s focus on meeting its citizens’ housing needs while fostering innovation in government services. As the programme evolves, the commitment to creating faster, more efficient housing solutions remains central to the country’s vision for a better future.
With these developments, the UAE continues to set benchmarks in citizen-centric services, ensuring a higher quality of life and seamless support for its people.
