Gaza Strip – In a significant humanitarian effort, twelve trucks carrying 150 tonnes of essential aid have successfully crossed into Gaza, delivering vital supplies to thousands of Palestinians impacted by the ongoing conflict. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) announced the successful aid entry on Friday, marking one of the first shipments to reach the area since the recent escalation began in October.
According to the UAE government, the relief effort is designed to meet the immediate needs of around 30,000 people, providing essential supplies such as food, medicine, and other critical resources. The UAE has been intensifying its relief efforts to address what officials describe as a “disastrous and deteriorating humanitarian situation” in Gaza.
The shipment is part of a broader UAE initiative to support Gaza’s population during a time of crisis. Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Development Affairs and International Organizations, highlighted the UAE’s commitment to delivering aid to those affected in the region. “The UAE is committed to extending a helping hand to the Palestinians and implementing humanitarian relief initiatives whether via land, sea, or air routes,” Al Shamsi stated. He further emphasized the UAE’s determination to ensure the “immediate, safe, unhindered, and sustainable delivery of aid on a wide scale, through all possible means.”
Since the start of the current conflict, the UAE has deployed more than 40,000 tonnes of aid, a measure aimed at alleviating suffering among Gaza’s residents who face increasingly limited access to basic resources. The government has noted that these relief efforts will continue as long as the crisis persists, with the aim of sustaining uninterrupted aid flow to the region.
The ongoing conflict has severely strained Gaza’s infrastructure, leaving its residents in urgent need of external assistance. Local and international organizations have called for sustained support to provide relief to those impacted by the violence. Aid agencies have reported that, due to ongoing hostilities, residents face severe shortages of food, clean water, medical supplies, and shelter.
The UAE’s latest delivery follows similar aid initiatives by other countries and organizations, all of which have been working to negotiate safe access to the area. Al Shamsi noted the UAE’s commitment to coordinating with international bodies to ensure aid reaches those in need in a timely manner, without compromising the safety of those delivering it.
The aid entry marks a critical development in efforts to address humanitarian needs in Gaza, with UAE officials emphasizing their ongoing support and readiness to expand relief operations as required.
