Sharjah Police have successfully returned nearly Dh33 million to their rightful owners in 2024 through the “Peace is Goodness” initiative, the force announced on Tuesday. The program, which aims to resolve financial disputes amicably, recovered a total of Dh32,943,920, all through friendly agreements between conflicting parties.

Launched as an alternative to traditional legal proceedings, the initiative focuses on reconciling parties involved in financial disagreements without the need for litigation. In 2024, the program successfully resolved 874 cases, providing a more peaceful, cooperative approach to settling disputes.

Colonel Youssef Obaid bin Harmoul, Deputy Director-General of the General Administration of Comprehensive Police Centres, praised the initiative for its effectiveness in promoting resolution outside of the courtroom. “This program is an important model for resolving disputes through understanding and dialogue, rather than resorting to legal action,” he said.

Bin Harmoul emphasized that the initiative not only protects individual rights but also helps strengthen relationships between the parties involved. It fosters constructive dialogue and encourages mutually beneficial solutions, contributing to the overall stability of the community.

The program aligns with the broader goals of Sharjah Police, according to Major Ibn Harmoul, who highlighted the force’s commitment to expanding its social role. By encouraging peaceful resolutions, Sharjah Police hope to prevent unnecessary legal proceedings while safeguarding the rights of all parties involved.

“This initiative is an essential tool in maintaining societal stability and enhancing security,” Major Ibn Harmoul stated. It is in line with the vision of Sharjah and the UAE government to create a sustainable, harmonious society.

The success of the “Peace is Goodness” initiative reflects both the commitment of Sharjah Police to community welfare and the growing recognition of non-legal methods for dispute resolution in the UAE. The program’s achievements in 2024 demonstrate its capacity to strengthen social cohesion and contribute to a more peaceful and cooperative society.
