In a move underscoring the robust diplomatic ties between Finland and the United Arab Emirates, Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo inaugurated the new Finnish Embassy headquarters in Abu Dhabi today.
The inauguration ceremony saw the presence of several prominent officials, including Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, UAE Minister of State; Tuula Johanna Yrjola, Finnish Ambassador to the UAE; Amna Mahmoud Fikri, UAE Ambassador to Finland; Omar Rashid Al Neyadi, Director of the European Affairs Department at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs; along with embassy staff and members of the diplomatic community.
Strengthening Bilateral Relations
Speaking at the event, Prime Minister Orpo emphasized the significance of the longstanding relationship between Finland and the UAE, highlighting their shared commitment to fostering growth and collaboration.
“The UAE has proven to be a valuable strategic partner for Finland,” Orpo stated. “Today’s inauguration marks not just the opening of a building but the strengthening of a friendship that has spanned decades. We look forward to enhancing our cooperation in areas that benefit both nations.”
Orpo expressed optimism about the future of Finnish-UAE relations, citing opportunities for collaboration in trade, technology, education, and sustainability.
A Milestone in 50 Years of Diplomacy
Tuula Johanna Yrjola, Finland’s Ambassador to the UAE, reflected on the 50-year diplomatic history between the two nations, describing the opening of the new embassy as a milestone.
“This new headquarters symbolizes our commitment to deepening our ties with the UAE,” Yrjola said. “It provides a platform for expanding cooperation and advancing our shared goals in diplomacy, trade, and cultural exchange.”
Yrjola also acknowledged the UAE’s role in facilitating international dialogue and its growing prominence as a hub for global cooperation, reinforcing Finland’s interest in forging stronger connections with the region.

Noura Al Kaabi and other Emirati officials extended their congratulations and highlighted the mutual benefits of a strengthened partnership.
