Dubai once again captivated the world with its iconic New Year’s Eve fireworks and drone displays, drawing tourists from across the globe to experience celebrations unlike any other. Visitors described the dazzling event as a memory to cherish, showcasing Dubai’s reputation as a top destination for New Year’s festivities.
A Night at the World’s Tallest Tower
Among the crowds gathered in the city were Polish tourists Małgosia and Remik, who arrived in Dubai just two days before the celebrations. The couple booked a prime dinner spot at a sushi restaurant in Dubai Mall to enjoy a front-row view of the Burj Khalifa fireworks.
“The Burj Khalifa fireworks are famous worldwide, and we wanted to experience them up close,” said Małgosia. The couple, parents to two young children back in Poland, described the trip as a brief escape for sunshine and warm weather. “Our children are happy with their grandparents, but we miss them and will return home on January 2,” Remik added.
Experiencing Fireworks for the First Time
Seventeen-year-old Brazilian tourist Pietra Orsi experienced Dubai’s New Year’s festivities for the first time with her family. The trip had been a long-standing dream and was planned at the last minute.
“In Brazil, we typically celebrate with friends and family, good food, and music, but fireworks are rare,” Pietra explained, attributing the absence of fireworks to concerns about noise disrupting wildlife. The grandeur of Dubai’s celebrations, with fireworks at multiple locations, left a lasting impression.
“It was amazing to watch from a yacht,” Pietra said. “I would definitely celebrate New Year’s this way again.”
Preserving Traditions Abroad
Brazilian tourist Teresa Gomiero, a regular visitor to the UAE during the holidays, celebrated New Year’s Eve on a yacht with her daughter Elisabete, who resides in Dubai. Despite enjoying the modern festivities, the mother-daughter duo upheld Brazilian traditions for good fortune.
“We wear white to symbolize peace and keep grape seeds or 12 pomegranate seeds in our wallets,” Elisabete shared. “The seeds are dried and carried throughout the year to ensure prosperity.”
Teresa described her first yacht celebration as unforgettable, while Elisabete emphasized their commitment to blending Brazilian customs with Dubai’s grandeur.
A Global Destination
From fireworks at the world’s tallest tower to unique traditions brought by international visitors, Dubai’s New Year’s Eve celebrations continue to cement the city’s status as a global hub for festive experiences. With memories made and traditions shared, tourists and residents alike embraced the start of 2025 in spectacular fashion.
