Dubai Launches Innovative Bus Pooling Service via Smart Apps

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has unveiled a new Bus Pooling initiative, offering passengers the option to share rides on minibuses booked through dedicated smart applications. The service aims to provide a convenient, efficient, and modern transportation solution tailored to the needs of residents and visitors.

Dynamic Rides with Flexible Routes

Unlike traditional public buses, the Bus Pooling service operates without fixed routes. Instead, it offers an on-demand transportation option. Currently, the service connects Deira with key business and commercial hubs, including Business Bay, Dubai Mall, Mirdif, and Dubai Festival City.

Ahmed Hashim Bahrozyan, CEO of RTA’s Public Transport Agency, emphasized the plan to expand the service across the emirate. “These minibuses will operate based on demand, with bookings facilitated through three smart applications: Citylink Shuttle, DrivenBus, and Fluxx Daily,” he explained. Each company manages a fleet of 20 minibuses, providing coverage throughout designated areas.

Affordable and Flexible Pricing

The minibuses, which can accommodate between 13 and 30 passengers, feature a dynamic fare system. Pricing is determined by the distance traveled and the demand for the service. Users can choose between single-trip options or weekly and monthly subscription packages for greater convenience.

“This service represents a significant step in offering reliable and advanced transportation solutions,” Bahrozyan noted, adding that the initiative aligns with RTA’s commitment to expanding transportation options for Dubai’s growing population.

Partnerships and Future Expansion

To deliver high-quality services, RTA has partnered with three specialized companies for the operation and management of the minibuses. The service scope is expected to grow over time, with plans to include additional routes and areas to meet increasing passenger demand.

Bookings for the service are seamlessly handled through the designated apps, allowing users to plan and secure their rides efficiently. This tech-driven approach ensures ease of use and provides real-time updates for passengers.
