UAE-based ride-hailing company Zed has expanded its platform to include more than 10,700 vehicles following new partnerships with Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC) and National Taxi, the company announced on Thursday. The move positions Zed as the operator of Dubai’s second-largest taxi fleet, now hosting over 80 per cent of the city’s taxis.
The integration brings together fleets from Dubai’s three largest taxi operators, including Kabi by Al Ghurair, significantly boosting Zed’s presence in the emirate’s competitive ride-hailing market. The company said the expansion will improve vehicle availability, reduce cancellations, and shorten waiting times for riders.
“With over 25 years of experience in the mobility sector through our legacy business, Zed and Kabi by Al Ghurair have a deep understanding of Dubai’s commuting behaviours and cultural expectations,” said Badr Al Ghurair, CEO of Zed. “This collaboration with DTC and National Taxi further strengthens Dubai’s mobility ecosystem while ensuring that our communities have access to the reliable, everyday transport solutions they deserve.”
Abhinav Patwa, executive vice president and head of Zed, said the partnerships would enable the company to scale operations and improve reliability, while also supporting drivers and maintaining a customer-first approach. “As Dubai shapes the blueprint for future-ready mobility, Zed is proud to be part of that journey, helping drive progress one ride at a time,” he added.
Zed’s app offers features such as guaranteed on-time pickups for pre-scheduled premium rides. The company also plans to roll out new services, including loyalty rewards, digital wallets, and lifestyle-focused partnerships, to enhance customer engagement.
The expansion aligns with Dubai’s broader mobility ambitions under the Smart City 2025 strategy, which aims to shift 80 per cent of taxi bookings to digital platforms. The initiative also encourages the integration of electric and hybrid taxis into fleets, supporting the emirate’s long-term sustainability and clean transport goals.
By consolidating a significant share of Dubai’s taxi operators, Zed is positioning itself as a key player in the city’s evolving transport sector. The company’s strengthened footprint is expected to play an important role in enhancing rider experience and meeting demand in one of the region’s busiest urban mobility hubs.
Zed’s ride-hailing service is available for download on both iOS and Android devices.
