Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSOA) installed the first smart streetlights and smart building technologies in the free zone technology park. According to a tech blogger of Dubai, it is one of the first ever smart technology integration in Dubai.
DSOA with the help of IoT (Internet of Things) network integrated the smart sensors with everyday objects, which then become connected, smart, and able to record data.
This initiative is a part of struggles to promote green technology and will enable a longer life for the electric bulbs which will consume less electricity and reduce operational costs and carbon impact.
On this initiative, Engineer Muammar Khaled Al Katheeri, Executive Vice President – Engineering Management at DSOA said;
“Through all such initiatives – great and small – DSOA is proud to contribute to achieving the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, of making Dubai the smartest city in the world. We have launched several smart initiatives in DSO that went through Proof of Concepts testing ahead of large-scale implementation such as DSO smart waste management that proved to be very successful for reducing waste collection cost and environmental footprint.
“DSO has demonstrated its ability to be the destination of choice for public and private entities as the centre of excellence for smart city initiatives. We are committed to researching and implementing smart city technologies on a sustained basis within our premises that will benefit DSO and the wider UAE. We look forward to increasing our collaboration with du on the installation of more smart street lights and smart building technologies around DSO.”
