Space42 has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with e& UAE to co-develop and deploy vehicle-to-everything (V2X) technologies, a move set to accelerate the UAE’s transition toward autonomous mobility and next-generation smart city infrastructure.

The partnership will integrate Space42’s Sovereign Mobility Cloud and autonomous vehicle systems with e& UAE’s 5.5G, edge computing, and secure communication networks, forming a foundation for 6G readiness. Together, the two companies aim to launch pilot projects, regulatory frameworks, and business models that will enable nationwide deployment of connected and autonomous vehicles.

V2X technology allows vehicles to communicate with each other, road infrastructure, and pedestrians in real time, enhancing road safety, traffic efficiency, and energy use through situational awareness and predictive analytics. It also supports over-the-air updates, enabling vehicles to share refined maps and operational data through edge nodes.

“This partnership brings together innovation on the ground and in the cloud,” said Hasan Al Hosani, CEO of Smart Solutions at Space42. “By combining Space42’s autonomous systems with e& UAE’s advanced networks, we can turn vehicles into more intelligent, connected, and embodied agents that move safely through our cities. This collaboration supports the UAE’s long-term vision for sustainable, efficient, and autonomous transportation.”

Masood M. Sharif Mahmood, CEO of e& UAE, said the collaboration will merge connectivity and intelligence across the nation’s mobility ecosystem. “By combining UAE-wide 5.5G, edge computing, and secure communications with Space42’s Sovereign Mobility Cloud, we can help vehicles ‘see’ more, react faster, and share trusted data with roads, signals, and pedestrians. Our goal is to enable safe and certifiable pilots that enhance road safety while paving the way toward 6G innovation,” he said.

The agreement outlines three primary areas of collaboration:

  • Connected infrastructure and networks: Integrating terrestrial and satellite networks, edge computing, and roadside units with Space42’s Sovereign Mobility Cloud for large-scale V2X communication.

  • Autonomous and connected mobility pilots: Testing autonomous shuttles, robotaxis, and logistics fleets in Abu Dhabi and other smart mobility zones to improve traffic management and safety.

  • Ecosystem and commercial models: Working with the Integrated Transport Centre, Department of Municipalities and Transportation, and Abu Dhabi Police to develop national standards and certification frameworks for commercial rollout.

The initiative aligns with the UAE’s National AI Strategy 2031, which seeks to make the country a global leader in artificial intelligence and smart mobility. It also supports the Smart Autonomous Systems Council’s mission to integrate AI, edge computing, and secure data systems into connected transport networks.

Since 2021, Space42 has logged over 600,000 kilometres of autonomous driving and completed more than 20,000 passenger trips through TXAI, its flagship robotaxi service. At the centre of this ecosystem is the company’s Sovereign Mobility Cloud and the Digital Twin of Abu Dhabi — technologies that merge satellite, sensor, and city data to enable vehicles to interact intelligently with their surroundings and strengthen the UAE’s growing autonomous mobility landscape.
