Cloud Computing from A to Z – all you need to know!

Cloud Computing from A to Z – all you need to know!
Web Desk
December 24, 2021

The best companies increasingly use clouds because they can significantly contribute to their development. What are they, which types of them are most popular, and what is their purpose? Learn more about Cloud Computing!

Cloud Computing

What is Cloud Computing?

Cloud Computing is the delivery of IT resources (servers, storage, databases, analytics, software, networking, etc.) over the Internet from a cloud provider. The company can pay only for services on an as-needed basis. It is a great alternative for buying and maintaining data centers and servers. In that way, infrastructure is running more efficiently, and operating costs are lower. What is more, clouds are scalable, so they are growing along with the company.

Types of Cloud Computing

There are three distinct types of Cloud Computing:

  • Public Cloud – owned and operated by a provider, which delivers IT resources (e.g. servers and storage) over the Internet. Clients have access to the services by a web browser;
  • Private Cloud – cloud computing resources used exclusively by a single business/organization. Its services and infrastructure are maintained on a private network, which can be physically located on the company’s data center. This option is less convenient and more expensive, but often necessary due to legal restrictions;
  • Hybrid Cloud – a combination of public and private cloud. It is a very flexible solution because it allows data and applications to move between two types of clouds.

Each solution has its pros and cons, so it should be tailored to the needs of the company or organization.

Types of Cloud Services

Cloud Services can be deployed in various forms. There are several models of their use, but some of them are most common and they fall into three broad categories:

  • Infrastructure as a service (IaaS) – renting of IT infrastructure (servers, virtual machines, storage, networks, operating systems) from a cloud provider, e.g. Google Cloud Platform;
  • Platform as a service (PaaS) – supply of an on-demand environment for developing, testing, delivering, and managing software applications, e.g. np. Google App Engine, Windows Azure, Amazon Web Services;
  • Software as a service (SaaS) – software applications available over the Internet, on-demand, and typically on a subscription basis, e.g. corporate systems, Google Docs.

What is cloud computing used for?

Clouds are widely used not only by large companies but also by ordinary users. This technology is common to e.g. send e-mails, play video games, or watch movies / listen to music online. In business, Clouds Computing facilitates the exchange of information and supports all employees, not only from the IT department. Thanks to them you can:

  • deliver software on demand,
  • store, back up, recover, and analyze data,
  • create and test applications,
  • embed intelligence.

Clouds should be implemented by professional providers such as CloudFerro, which offers personalized solutions in private, public, and hybrid clouds. It guarantees modern services with full security and 24/7 technical support. This kind of cooperation is safe, cost-effective, and fully adaptable to the individual needs of the company or organization.
