Samsung Electronics has launched the Samsung Galaxy S26 in the Gulf with renewed confidence, following strong regional demand for its latest foldable devices.
The company recently introduced the Samsung Galaxy Z Tri-Fold in the UAE, one of only five global markets selected for its debut. According to Fadi Abu Shamat, Vice President and Head of the Mobile eXperience Division at Samsung Gulf Electronics, three consecutive batches of the device sold out within an hour. The rapid sell-through of a premium, niche-category product points to the Gulf’s position as an early-adopter market.
While the Tri-Fold highlighted design innovation, the S26 series centres on what Samsung describes as an “agentic AI” device. The company argues that smartphones are shifting from tools that respond to commands to devices that anticipate user needs and act independently based on context.
The S26 Ultra introduces what Samsung calls the mobile industry’s first built-in Privacy Display. Unlike adhesive privacy filters, the technology is integrated directly into the display panel, controlling light dispersion at the hardware level. When activated, it maintains brightness and colour accuracy for the primary user while blocking visibility from side angles. Users can enable the feature across all apps or assign it selectively, such as limiting it to messaging platforms or only the notification bar. The feature is exclusive to the Ultra variant due to production costs tied to the specialised display glass.
On the imaging front, the S26 Ultra features wider apertures across its camera system, allowing significantly more light to reach the sensor compared with the previous generation. Improved light capture reduces reliance on post-processing noise reduction, particularly in low-light video. AI image signal processing enhancements now extend to the front camera, improving skin tone accuracy under mixed lighting. The device also supports APV codec recording for high-quality video editing directly on the handset, alongside enhanced horizontal stabilisation for smoother footage.
Samsung is positioning its NowNudge feature as central to the S26 experience. The contextual system surfaces suggested actions based on conversations, calendar entries and location data. For example, it can recommend alternative meeting times, retrieve relevant travel photos without opening the gallery, or suggest booking transport when a user is running late. AI processing runs on-device by default, limiting reliance on cloud computing.
Powering the device is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, paired with a redesigned vapor chamber for improved heat management in high-temperature environments. The S26 Ultra supports 60W wired charging, reaching 75 per cent battery capacity in 30 minutes.
The launch coincides with the Galaxy Buds 4 series, which add gesture controls and on-device live translation features when paired with the S26.
The S26 Ultra is available in configurations ranging from 12GB/256GB to 16GB/1TB, with multiple colour options including exclusive online editions.
