Qualcomm Technologies and Aramco Digital have announced a groundbreaking collaboration to develop the world’s first AI-enabled industrial 5G smartphone with native support for the 450MHz spectrum. The device, unveiled at LEAP 2025, aims to enhance industrial connectivity and accelerate digital transformation.

The industrial smartphone is designed to improve communication and data transfer for 5G IoT devices, edge computing, and other industrial applications. Initially, it will support advanced connectivity solutions for Aramco, one of the world’s leading integrated energy and chemical companies.

Powered by Qualcomm’s QCM8550 and QCM6490 processors, the smartphone will provide enhanced connectivity in industrial environments. These processors are optimized for 5G applications in the 450MHz spectrum, offering improved performance and reliability for mission-critical operations.

A Step Forward in Industrial Innovation

Aramco Digital’s Connectivity President, Eid Alharbi, emphasized the transformative potential of the partnership.

“At Aramco Digital, we are committed to pushing the boundaries of technological innovation. This collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies represents a significant milestone in our journey to empower industries with next-generation connectivity,” Alharbi said.

He added that by integrating cutting-edge 5G and AI technologies, the initiative will support smarter and more sustainable industries, aligning with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and driving digital transformation beyond the kingdom.

Nakul Duggal, Group GM at Qualcomm Technologies, echoed these sentiments, highlighting the broader impact on industrial operations.

“The industrial sector is being transformed by advanced technologies, and our industrial smartphones with native 450MHz support will help industries become more connected, efficient, safe, and sustainable,” Duggal stated.

Expanding Industrial Digitalization

The announcement builds on previous collaborations between Qualcomm and Aramco Digital, including the deployment of Aramco’s first GenAI-powered industrial IoT solutions. These innovations have improved safety, efficiency, and sustainability at company sites, and the new industrial smartphones are expected to further expand access to these advancements.

A prototype of the AI-enabled industrial 5G smartphone, along with Qualcomm’s 450MHz processors, is currently being showcased at Aramco Digital’s stand at LEAP 2025. The device is expected to play a crucial role in advancing industrial connectivity in Saudi Arabia and beyond.
