Dubai’s transportation sector is witnessing a significant transformation with the emergence of Zed, a new ride-hailing platform developed by Al Ghurair Mobility. Positioned as a homegrown alternative to global mobility giants, Zed aims to redefine urban commuting in Dubai by delivering a service that is not only technologically advanced but also tailored to the cultural and daily realities of the city’s residents.
Launched by Al Ghurair Mobility, Zed is focused on delivering a personalized, efficient, and seamless commuting experience. From licensed taxis to premium limousines and multi-stop journeys, the app offers a wide array of services. One of its standout features, Rhythm, enables users to schedule recurring rides for routines such as school pickups and daily commutes—addressing the highly structured lifestyle of Dubai’s population.
“We’re not just moving people,” said Badr Al Ghurair, CEO of Al Ghurair Mobility. “We’re helping move Dubai toward a more sustainable and inclusive future.”
Zed’s user-centric approach includes customization options such as cabin temperature, music preferences, and the ability to select the level of driver interaction. These details, according to the company, are born out of extensive community feedback, particularly from users who desire a more discreet and comfortable experience.
The app also places a strong emphasis on cultural fluency. Its interface, communication style, and even promotional campaigns are designed with Dubai’s multicultural demographic in mind. Zed’s development team includes local experts who ensure that every update reflects the values and expectations of the city’s diverse residents.
Behind the scenes, Zed leverages data analytics and predictive technology to optimize routes, manage fleets, and respond swiftly to user feedback. The platform is integrated with Dubai’s Smart City 2025 goals, focusing on sustainability and digital efficiency. Its growing fleet includes hybrid and electric vehicles, aligning with the city’s environmental targets.
In addition to prioritizing rider experience, Zed also emphasizes driver welfare. Known as “Zeddies,” its drivers are offered performance incentives, real-time support, and ongoing training. Their feedback is incorporated into platform updates, creating a collaborative and respectful ecosystem.
Looking ahead, Zed’s roadmap includes expanding services, integrating digital wallets, launching loyalty programs, and eventually exploring air mobility options as Dubai develops vertical transportation infrastructure.
“We’re not just building a platform,” said Executive Vice President Abhinav Patwa. “We’re creating a lifestyle layer that enhances every part of your day.”
By combining deep local insight with future-ready technology, Zed is carving out a unique space in Dubai’s mobility sector—one that reflects the city’s ambition, diversity, and commitment to progress.
