The Emirates Group has announced a strategic partnership with Moro Hub, a subsidiary of Digital DEWA, to transition its data centre operations to the world’s largest solar-powered data centre at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park.
The collaboration, set to take effect in mid-2026, will enable the Emirates Group to utilize Moro Hub’s cutting-edge co-location services. These services will include rack space, power, cooling, equipment supply, and other essential infrastructure, ensuring a seamless shift to renewable energy sources.
Commitment to Sustainability
By relocating its digital infrastructure to Moro Hub, the Emirates Group aims to leverage clean energy to power its operations, requiring an estimated annual supply of 3,000 megawatts. This move is a significant step in the Group’s broader sustainability strategy, aligning with Dubai’s ambitious green energy initiatives.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), emphasized the importance of this partnership in driving sustainable digital innovation. “We are proud to support the Emirates Group’s sustainability journey with this strategic move to the world’s largest solar-powered data centre. This alliance underscores Dubai’s commitment to accelerating digital transformation and enhancing its global position in sustainable aviation,” he said.
He further highlighted that by joining forces, Moro Hub and the Emirates Group will contribute to sustainable economic growth and reinforce Dubai’s leadership in green technology and innovation on the world stage.
A Strategic Leap Towards a Greener Future
Michael Doersam, Emirates Group’s Chief Financial and Group Services Officer, expressed enthusiasm about the transition. “By shifting our digital operations to Moro Hub, we are enhancing operational resilience and scalability while significantly reducing our environmental footprint. This adoption of clean energy solutions underscores our commitment to a greener, technology-driven future.”
Moro Hub, certified by Guinness World Records as the world’s largest solar-powered data centre, plays a pivotal role in Dubai’s sustainability vision. With its state-of-the-art infrastructure, it supports companies in their transition to carbon-neutral operations, reinforcing Dubai’s position as a global leader in clean energy and digital transformation.
The Emirates Group’s decision to migrate its data centre operations aligns with Dubai’s broader efforts to achieve net-zero emissions and establish itself as a hub for sustainable business practices. As global industries increasingly shift towards eco-friendly solutions, this partnership sets a benchmark for innovation in aviation and digital infrastructure.
This strategic collaboration reflects the Emirates Group’s commitment to integrating sustainability into its core operations, ensuring long-term environmental benefits while strengthening Dubai’s reputation as a leading smart city driven by renewable energy solutions.
