EDGNEX Data Centers by DAMAC, a global digital infrastructure company backed by the Dubai-based DAMAC Group, has announced a major new investment in Indonesia with the development of a next-generation, AI-focused data centre in Jakarta.
The new facility, with a projected capacity of 144 megawatts (MW), is set to become one of Southeast Asia’s largest AI-dedicated infrastructure projects. Representing a total investment of $2.3 billion, the centre will be the company’s second in Indonesia, signalling a deepening commitment to digital infrastructure growth in the region.
Land acquisition for the new site was completed in March 2025, and early construction phases are now underway. Phase one is expected to be operational by December 2026. The Jakarta facility is designed to support high-density AI workloads and will address key infrastructure challenges such as limited hyperscale readiness and growing latency issues across Indonesia.
“This is our second project in Indonesia, and it reinforces our commitment to bridging the digital divide in fast-growing markets across Southeast Asia,” said Hussain Sajwani, founder of DAMAC Group. “We are proud to build what will become one of Southeast Asia’s most advanced, sustainable data centres to power the next wave of innovation and digital growth.”
The upcoming facility will target a power usage effectiveness (PUE) ratio of 1.32, underscoring EDGNEX’s focus on energy efficiency and environmental sustainability.
This project follows EDGNEX’s first Indonesian development announced in 2024 — a 19.2 MW data centre in the MT Haryono area of Jakarta, one of the city’s most interconnected digital infrastructure hubs. That site is expected to go live in the third quarter of 2026 and will support demand from cloud providers, edge computing services, and AI platforms.
EDGNEX is actively expanding its footprint across Southeast Asia, with additional projects in Thailand and Malaysia. To date, the company has committed more than $3 billion to digital infrastructure investments in the region. It aims to exceed 300MW of operational capacity across Southeast Asia by 2026.
The Jakarta announcement highlights Indonesia’s growing significance as a digital hub in the region and positions EDGNEX as a key player in building the infrastructure required for the next generation of AI and cloud technologies.
