Apple releases urgent security updates to fix flaws exposing photos and browsing data

Apple releases urgent security updates to fix flaws exposing photos and browsing data

Apple Inc has issued a series of security updates aimed at fixing vulnerabilities that could allow unauthorized access to private photos, browsing history, and other sensitive information on its devices. The fixes were released as part of the company’s latest software updates for iPhones, iPads, Macs, and its Safari web browser.

According to documents published on Apple’s support website, the company released iOS 26.3 and iPadOS 26.3 on February 11, along with Safari 26.3 and related updates for macOS. These releases address multiple weaknesses discovered in core parts of Apple’s software ecosystem, including the operating system kernel, WebKit browser engine, Safari, and various system services.

Security experts note that vulnerabilities in these areas can pose serious privacy risks. Apple confirmed that some of the flaws could allow malicious apps to gain access to sensitive user data or carry out actions without the user’s knowledge. In one instance, the company said it had received reports indicating that a vulnerability may already have been exploited in real-world attacks.

Apple did not disclose full technical details of the vulnerabilities, a standard practice designed to reduce the risk of attackers exploiting the flaws before users have installed the patches. The company emphasized that keeping devices up to date is one of the most effective ways to protect personal information and prevent unauthorized access.

The updates apply to a wide range of devices, including newer and older models that remain supported. iPhone and iPad users can install the updates by opening the Settings app, selecting General, and tapping Software Update. Mac users can install the latest macOS and Safari updates through System Settings under General and Software Update.

Apple also encourages users to enable automatic updates to ensure future security fixes are installed without delay. Additional protective measures include using strong passcodes and enabling biometric authentication features such as Face ID or Touch ID, which add an extra layer of protection against unauthorized access.

The company releases security patches regularly as part of its ongoing effort to address emerging threats and protect its global user base. As cyberattacks become more sophisticated, technology firms are under increasing pressure to identify and resolve vulnerabilities quickly.

Cybersecurity analysts say prompt installation of updates is essential, as attackers often target known flaws shortly after they become public. Apple’s latest release reflects continued efforts to strengthen device security and safeguard user privacy across its platform.
