The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) has listed the region’s first thematic exchange-traded fund (ETF), giving investors direct exposure to the fast-growing quantum computing sector.
The Boreas Solactive Quantum Computing UCITS ETF, trading under the ticker QUANTM, is the 17th ETF to debut on the ADX and the second to be listed this year. The fund tracks the Solactive Developed Quantum Computing Index, which comprises 25 companies at the forefront of quantum technologies, including global giants Alphabet, Amazon, IBM, Microsoft, and NVIDIA.
Launched by Abu Dhabi-based investment firm Lunate, the ETF is based on an index that has delivered a compounded annual growth rate of 29.4 percent since 2017, according to back-tested data. By offering investors a single, tradable security with global reach, the new fund further strengthens ADX’s role as a growing hub for ETFs in the Middle East.
Abdulla Salem Alnuaimi, group CEO of ADX, called the listing a “milestone that reaffirms our enduring commitment to expanding and diversifying the investment choices available to our investors.” He said quantum computing represents one of the most promising technological fields, with the potential to transform industries and create new avenues of growth.
ADX’s ETF market has been expanding rapidly. By the end of August 2025, the segment’s market capitalization had more than doubled year-on-year to Dh1.7 billion, up from Dh790 million in the same period of 2024. Officials say the addition of QUANTM highlights investor appetite for innovative financial products and aligns with Abu Dhabi’s ambition to become a premier global financial hub.
Sherif Salem, partner and head of Public Markets at Lunate, described the launch as a “landmark moment” for the firm. “This ETF underscores Lunate’s mission to provide innovative investment solutions to ADX investors while cementing the emirate’s standing as a leading financial center,” he said. Salem added that the product offers early access to a sector “brimming with strategic opportunities.”
The launch comes as global interest in thematic funds continues to rise. According to industry data, the thematic fund market has nearly doubled over the past five years, reaching $562 billion worldwide. Experts say the growth reflects investors’ increasing demand for targeted exposure to transformative sectors such as renewable energy, biotechnology, and now quantum computing.
By widening its product offerings and deepening market liquidity, ADX aims to appeal to both institutional and retail investors seeking diversified opportunities. Market analysts suggest that the listing could pave the way for additional innovation-driven funds in the coming years, further integrating Abu Dhabi into global financial flows.
