ADNOC Distribution has inaugurated one of the world’s largest superfast electric vehicle (EV) charging hubs along the main highway connecting Abu Dhabi and Dubai, advancing plans to electrify the UAE’s national highway network by 2027.
The new EV “Megahub” at Saih Shuaib on the E11 highway offers 60 high-speed charging points capable of taking most electric vehicles from 0 to 80 percent in around 20 minutes. ADNOC Distribution described the facility as the sixth-largest superfast charging hub globally and the largest in the Middle East, Africa, and Turkey.
The project forms part of a wider strategy to install 20 EV charging hubs across the country’s highways by 2027, with 15 expected to be operational by the end of 2026. The initiative aims to enable long-distance EV travel across the UAE and support the shift toward cleaner transportation.
Engineer Sharif Al Olama, undersecretary for energy and petroleum affairs at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, said the new hub aligns with the UAE’s National Electric Vehicles Policy. He highlighted its strategic location on the E11 highway, which serves as a key corridor for commuters and long-distance travelers.
“Expanding high-speed charging infrastructure is a cornerstone of our transport strategy, which seeks to reduce energy consumption and boost electric vehicle adoption,” Al Olama said. He added that the UAE aims for battery-electric vehicles to account for half of all cars on its roads by 2050.
ADNOC Distribution CEO Engineer Bader Saeed Al Lamki described the hub as a step in the company’s evolution beyond conventional fuel retailing. “Since 1973, ADNOC Distribution has powered journeys across the nation. Today, we are shaping the future of mobility with the UAE’s largest superfast EV charging hub,” he said.
The Saih Shuaib facility is also the latest addition to “The Hub by ADNOC” network, combining fuel, EV charging, and retail services on a larger scale than standard service stations. It is the first in the network designed for intercity commuters and includes amenities such as a coworking space for travelers between Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
Under its E2GO brand, ADNOC Distribution operates one of the UAE’s most extensive EV networks, with more than 400 charging points nationwide and a target of 750 by 2028. With over 560 service stations in the UAE, the company said its network provides a strong foundation to expand EV infrastructure in line with rising demand and national electrification objectives.
The launch reflects the UAE’s growing focus on sustainable mobility, supporting both consumer convenience and the government’s environmental ambitions.
